The UFC 165 main event between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson was a bloody war that nearly got stopped prior to the fifth round due to a cut sustained by Jones in the first round. Referee John McCarthy pleaded with the cageside physician to not stop the fight, according to UFC president Dana White .
