East (10-1) retained his heavyweight title with a second-round TKO in the main event of Friday’s Legacy FC 40 event – but he had to survive a first-round scare from the challenger, who took the fight on less than two weeks’ notice – and just three weeks after fighting at Legacy FC 39, which was his first bout in nearly four years. The main card also featured a beautiful knockout by Doug Usher (4-2) against Aaron Conway (4-5) in the main card’s opening bout, plus some brilliant jiu-jitsu from Rodrigo Lima (12-3) against Matt Betzold (6-5).
