The light heavyweight title was on the line in the UFC 313 main event on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Champion  Alex Pereira faced the top 205-pound contender  Magomed Ankalaev after weeks of back and forth banter.  Pereira won the championship at UFC 295 in November 2023 by knocking out Jiri Prochazka for the vacant title. He defended the belt three times, finishing each challenger. Ankalaev hadn’t lost a fight since 2018. He fought  Jan Blachowicz for the vacant title at UFC 282
