Brandon Halsey Friday’s Bellator 144 fight card originally featured two title fights, but MMA fans should know by now the event a promotion puts on paper is rarely what fans will see when fight night rolls around. Early in October, an injury to former Bellator bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas scuppered his title fight against current champion Marcos Galvao. Bellator officials reacted by elevating the fight between former Bellator middleweight champion Brandon Halsey and Rafael Carvalho for the vacant middleweight title to main-event status. Below that bout, the fights on the main card may not be for Bellator gold, but they are not without intrigue.
