LAS VEGAS – Poliana Botelho has been going through a rough patch in her career, but she hopes to end it at UFC Fight Night 207. Botelho (8-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) takes on fellow Brazilian Karine Silva in a main-card fight Saturday at the UFC Apex, looking to snap a two-fight skid. Beyond losing back-to-back fights, Botelho’s had to deal with injury and COVID-19, which caused a cancellation of her fight with Ji Yeon Kim in January. All told, it’s been 13 long months since Botelho competed, but she feels ready after adding a mental coach to her team and changing up her boxing, grappling and muay Thai coaches at Nova União. “I do feel that I became more of an intelligent fighter, someone that’s smarter during the fight that knows when to let it loose and when to pull it back,” Botelho said during Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 207 media day.
