Mike Pierce  is in the midst of a career-long layoff, but now healthy, the UFC veteran wants to compete as soon as possible. The past year hasn’t been kind to Pierce (17-6 MMA, 9-4 UFC). He was last seen in the octagon at UFC Fight Night 29 in October 2013, where he suffered a controversial first-round submission loss to Rousimar Palhares. Palhares secured a heel hook early in the contest and cranked the hold to inflict damage even after Pierce had tapped out.
