One of the three bouts on Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 83 card in need of short-term replacements appears to have been saved. According to a report from Globo , Augusto Mendes (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will step in for John Lineker (26-7 MMA, 7-2) in a bantamweight bout on the main card against Cody Garbrandt (7-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC). Lineker was forced out of the fight on Monday with a bout of mosquito-borne illness dengue fever. That leaves two fights still in jeopardy for Sunday: Leonardo Augusto Guimaraes needs a middleweight opponent after Trevor Smith fell off the card on Monday , and Lauren Murphy needs a foe for a women’s bantamweight bout after Sarah Moras dropped out late this past week .
