ST. LOUIS – In what was at times a classic brawl, Daniel Straus won the featherweight title with a unanimous decision win over champ Patricio Freire at Bellator 145. Straus (25-6 MMA, 11-3 BMMA) had two prior losses to Freire (24-3 MMA, 12-3 BMMA), including one for the title earlier this year in which he was strong for 15 minutes before being submitted by the champ in the fourth. It was deja vu in the fifth round on Friday when Freire rallied, but Straus took a pair of 48-47 scores and a 49-46 to win the belt for the second time.
