Daniel Weichel Six months removed from his knockout loss to Patricio Freire for the Bellator featherweight title, Daniel Weichel is not harping on what-ifs and potential missed opportunities. Weichel (35-9 MMA, 5-1 BMMA) had the 145-pound title within reach at Bellator 138 in June when he stunned Freire (24-3 MMA, 12-3 BMMA) with a flurry that had the now ex-champ in trouble toward the end of the first round. He was unable to capitalize, though, and was knocked out in the opening seconds of Round 2 . Although the outcome was devastating, “The Weasel” said he’s leaving his title loss in the past. He took some important lessons away from the fight and said he’s ready to apply them against Georgi Karakhanyan (24-4 MMA, 3-2 BMMA) on Friday at Bellator 147. “It was a tough, tough loss to me,” Weichel told MMAjunkie.
