Phil Davis secured a shot at the light heavyweight title with a unanimous decision over Muhammad Lawal at Bellator 154, nearly finishing the former Strikeforce champ in a raucous ending. After winning a one-night light heavyweight tournament that was supposed to lead to champ Liam McGeary, Davis unanimously outpointed Lawal with a busy kick attack and a near-submission in the third round. “I should have had a little bit more urgency,” said Davis afterward on a kimura secured off a straight right that produced the most definitive exchange of the headliner.
