LOUIS – For Bellator women’s flyweight Rebecca Ruth , what started out as a mere gym incursion to get in shape has evolved into a professional MMA career. And, so far, a reasonably successful one. Ahead of her appearance at Friday’s Bellator 157 event, in what will be her eighth pro bout, Ruth retraced the steps that took her on her peculiar road to the cage. “When I came into the gym, I’d had my son, and I just wanted to get back in shape,” she said. “I’d been into sports and been athletic, but after college, getting married, having kids – doing that kind of thing, you get out of shape a little bit.
