With that, he would achieve the unique accomplishment of capturing a title in two major organizations. Askren (13-0) held the Bellator MMA belt from 2010-2013 before departing the organization as a free agent. He hoped to join the UFC roster once his time with Bellator came to an end, but UFC President Dana White dismissed any interest in the highly regarded former collegiate wrestling standout , which caused Askren to take his services overseas to the Asia-based ONE FC brand
