After a frustrating 2013 campaign in which Vitor Belfort  (24-10 MMA, 13-6 UFC) steadily called for a shot at the UFC middleweight title, it appears “The Phenom” will finally get his chance. UFC President Dana White today told Boston’s “ Metro South Morning Show ” that Belfort is the people’s choice to face the winner of Saturday’s UFC 168 main event. “On Saturday night, if Chris Weidman wins or Anderson Silva wins, the next massive, huge fight that everyone wants to see is Vitor Belfort,” White said. “That’s what everybody wants to see.” And since White has often admitted his job as a promoter is to “put on the fights fans want to see,” that would seem to make Belfort the de facto No. 1 contender
