Daniel Cormier One never has to wait long for UFC light heavyweight Daniel Cormier to share his opinion, so a little dig at his upcoming title opponent, Anthony Johnson , shouldn’t come as a surprise. “At the core of him, he is who he is, and I just have to go out and find that,” said Cormier on FOX Sports 1’s “UFC Tonight” after relaying the news of his second title fight in four months at UFC 187, which takes place May 23 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. Cormier always has been an outspoken advocate for himself and for the team around him. Following Luke Rockhold’s dominant win over Lyoto Machida earlier this month, “DC” all but chest-bumped middleweight champ Chris Weidman in touting his American Kickboxing Academy stablemate’s capability of winning the belt. Since a heartbreaking defeat in January to then-light heavyweight champ Jon Jones, who on Tuesday was suspended indefinitely by the UFC and stripped of his title stemming from an alleged hit-and-run accident, Cormier has picked up right where he left off at the UFC commentary table, breaking down fights and engaging fellow commentators while shooting from the hip at old and present targets. After telling the now-deposed champ to “get it together,” Cormier (15-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) voiced his opinion that Johnson (19-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) has a fatal flaw when it comes to facing down threats that don’t acquiesce to his plan inside the UFC’s octagon.
