But the former UFC lightweight champion said he didn’t entertain the thought that Mendes (17-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) might not wind up being his next fight. Despite the last-minute shakeup that gave Mendes a title shot at UFC 189, Edgar’s focus remained on his scheduled opponent. “I wasn’t banking on anybody pulling out,” Edgar (19-4-1 MMA, 13-4-1 UFC), who headlines The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale, told MMAjunkie Radio. Edgar certainly is planning to show up for the FOX Sports 1-televised main event at Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, just as he expects featherweight champs Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo to do the same.
