Diego Brandao Diego Brandao  won “The Ultimate Fighter 14″ in 2011 and registered victories in four of his first five UFC fights. Then things slowly fell apart. He missed weight (badly, weighing 151.5 pounds for a 145-pound featherweight bout) and suffered a first-round knockout loss to Dustin Poirier in late 2013. Then, in his lone 2014 appearance, he was no match for quick-rising Conor McGregor, who knocked out Brandao in the first round of their UFC Fight Night 46 headliner in July. Those losses – and a pair of last-minute fight cancellations – crushed Brandao (18-10 MMA, 4-3 UFC). But ahead of Saturday’s UFC 183 bout with Jimy Hettes (11-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC), he said he’s found motivation from a usual source.
