Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz never got to square off inside the octagon, although they were scheduled to fight in 2018. The two were slated to face each other at UFC 230 in November 2018, but an injury forced Poirier out of the fight. A match between the two was briefly discussed earlier this year, but didn’t come to fruition. Diaz fought out his UFC contract at UFC 279 in September and is a free agent.
