Alexander Volkov Despite ending on a two-fight losing skid, Alexander Volkov ’s stint in Bellator was a successful one. Volkov (24-6) won a pair of eight-man heavyweight tournaments in the Bellator cage, the first of which netted him the heavyweight championship. He lost the title to Vitaly Minakov one fight later but rebounded with a five-fight winning streak including capturing the Season 10 heavyweight tournament crown. Following back-to-back losses to Tony Johnson and Cheick Kongo, Volkov found himself out of the promotion, something he said was a surprise. In fact, Volkov said that he heard about his release through the news, not from any Bellator official
