Former UFC and Bellator commentator Jimmy Smith is getting a full-time role on the SiriusXM airwaves. Smith, who was long known as the primary color commentator for Bellator before a yearlong stint under the UFC banner, has seen his “Unlocking the Cage” program expanded to weekdays on SiriusXM Fight Nation channel 156. Smith’s show debuts Aug. 31 and will air Monday through Friday during the 1 p.m.-3 p.m. ET slot, the company announced on Thursday (via Twitter ): BIG SXM FIGHT NATION ANNOUNCEMENT YOU ASKED FOR HIM, AND YOU GOT HIM!!! We are very excited to announce that starting Monday, August 31st, you can catch @jimmysmithmma on “Unlocking the Cage” weekdays from 1-3pm ET on SiriusXM Fight Nation channel 156! pic.twitter.com/yYKszlSJb2 — MMA on SiriusXM (@MMAonSiriusXM) August 27, 2020 Smith’s expanded role with SiriusXM comes on the heels of Luke Thomas’ departure from the company to join CBS Sports in a full-time capacity. SiriusXM program director Marissa Rivas commented on Smith’s new position (via Twitter ): I’m so excited to announce that we’re launching a daily MMA show with the great @jimmysmithmma “Unlocking the Cage”
