UFC President Dana White said during a recent appearance on CNBC that in the UFC, “you eat what you kill.” The mentality of fighters making a liveable wage only when they produce big numbers for the promotion has led to multiple groups attempting to form associations to allow fighters the power of collective bargaining. The debate hitting new levels coincided with Zuffa selling the UFC to WME-IMG for $4 billion. Justin McCully (11-5-2) fought in the UFC four times from 2007 to 2009. The former heavyweight fighter now considers himself a “frontiersman,” fighting in the previous era while new fighters cash in on the hard work of his generation. He said he isn’t upset with the idea of fighters being in a better position, but believes they need to come together to look out for the financial best interest of all. “The money is there now, though,” McCully told MMAjunkie Radio
