There are plans in place for Cejudo (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) to relinquish the 125-pound belt in order to set up a bout for the vacant championship between Joseph Benavidez  and Deiveson Figueiredo for UFC on ESPN+ 27. MMA Junkie confirmed the information about Cejudo relinquishing the belt, as well as the planned title fight booking, with multiple people close to the situation following an initial report about the matchup from BJPenn.com . A UFC official later confirmed the news to MMA Junkie
