A trio of veteran referees are set to oversee high-profile bouts next month in Las Vegas, the Nevada State Athletic Commission today confirmed. At a meeting today in Las Vegas, the commission appointed Herb Dean to referee UFC 181′s headliner between welterweight champ Johny Hendricks (16-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) and Robbie Lawler (24-10 MMA, 9-4 UFC), while John McCarthy will serve in a co-headliner featuring lightweight champ Anthony Pettis (17-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) vs. Gilbert Melendez (22-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC). Additionally, Yves Lavigne will referee the final of “The Ultimate Fighter 20,” which will crown the UFC’s inaugural women’s strawweight champion.
