After winning the first eight fights of his professional career by being a bomber in the cage, going for broke with a passing regard for strategy – his strategy was to knock his opponent out – Virgil Zwicker lost three of his next five fights. Call that his period of awakening; his push in the right direction. Having spent his formative years in and out of juvenile detention, it’s no wonder that Zwicker was a loose cannon when it came to his early fighting career. But he’s since forged a much more sustainable path with the guidance of his coaches at Team Quest and manager Nima Safapour. Zwicker now takes his preparations just as seriously as he does the fight, if not more so, training alongside the likes of legendary fighter Dan Henderson . The former Pride and Strikeforce champion has become a major influence and will be in Zwicker’s corner when he faces UFC veteran Razak Al-Hassan at Bellator 137 on Friday night
