Irshaad Sayed will be looking to take another step towards a fight with undefeated EFC bantamweight champion Demarte Pena when he faces Abdul Hassan next month in what will be his third fight for the South African promotion. Pena and Sayed are not just the two top bantamweights currently signed to the promotion, they are two of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the continent. A match-up between them would be a massive bout, but the 25-year-old says he is not looking past Hassan, whom he will be facing in the main event of EFC 35. “Abdul is an experienced fighter, he’s had many more fights than his Sherdog record reflects, and has a slightly unorthodox striking style, although there’s no secret that he’s mostly a BJJ practitioner, but he hasn’t fought any high level international opponents and I’m training daily with world class athletes at Evolve MMA in Singapore.” Sayed will be headlining the card at the Grand West Casino in Capetown and, after spending the majority of his career competing in Asia, he will be fighting in his homeland for the second time in quick succession
