Demetrious Johnson Paige VanZant is one of the UFC’s brightest prospects. Many, however, believe she still has a lot of work to do before entering the discussion of threats to strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk . One fighter who doesn’t think VanZant (6-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) is that far off, though, is UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson (23-2-1 MMA, 11-1-1 UFC). Jedrzejczyk (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) has been nothing short of dominant during the first year of her title reign, making two successful defenses. Much of fighting is based on style matchups, and Johnson said VanZant, who headlines Thursday’s UFC Fight Night 80 event, has the best skillset to counter the sprawl-and-strike style of the undefeated champion. “You look at Joanna Jedrzejczyk, amazing striker – she’s developed a way to not get taken down,” Johnson said on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast
