Manager Ali Abdelaziz thinks it’s absurd for Jorge Masvidal to be calling UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman a coward. Usman (18-1 MMA, 13-0 UFC) is set to rematch Masvidal in the main event of UFC 261 on April 24 at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. The pair fought last July at UFC 251 where Masvidal stepped in on just six days’ to challenge Usman in Abu Dhabi. Usman retained the title in a one-sided unanimous decision, but Masvidal vowed that things would be different in the rematch now that he’s had plenty of time to properly prepare. Masvidal (35-14 MMA, 12-7 UFC) hasn’t competed since losing to Usman, whereas Usman retained his title in February with a second-round finish of Gilbert Burns at UFC 258. Usman already holds wins over the top-four ranked UFC welterweights, which means that a rematch for his next title defense was inevitable.
