Charles Oliveira validated himself as champion in the eyes of Justin Gaethje with a successful title defense against Dustin Poirier at UFC 269 . Gaethje (23-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) has been quite critical of Oliveira (32-8 MMA, 20-8 UFC) this year, claiming that the Brazilian “quits” in his fights when the going gets rough and that he doesn’t have much heart when the octagon door closes. Oliveira has showed otherwise in his past two fights, though, and has rebounded from knockdowns in the first round against Poirier and Michael Chandler to earn stoppages and leave with the belt around his waist
