It hasn’t been the best of starts for Leandro Higo in his Bellator tenure. The former LFA bantamweight champion came into Bellator with a lot of momentum but was put to the test right off the gate. He debuted in April 2017 on short notice against then-bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas in a non-title fight and lost a closely contested decision at Bellator 177. Six months later, he then picked up his first promotional win against Joe Taimanglo at Bellator 184 and was rewarded with a title shot against Darrion Caldwell. He was choked out in the first round, but that didn’t stop Higo from chasing more tough fights.
