Leon Edwards will certainly have his eyes peeled for the UFC 251 main event. Welterweight contender Edwards (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) has won his last eight fights and thinks he’s done more than enough to earn a shot at the title. He was scheduled to headline the UFC’s planned Mar. 21 event in London against Tyron Woodley, but the event was canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Instead, Woodley moved on to face Gilbert Burns on May 30 and lost a one-sided unanimous decision as the Brazilian emerged as a new contender at 170 pounds. After Jorge Masvidal ’s negotiations with the UFC to face welterweight champion Kamaru Usman fell through, the promotion turned to Edwards, but he was forced to decline the offer due to having no access to his gym, Team Renegade in Birmingham, which remains closed due to the ongoing lockdown restrictions in the U.K
