Following back-to-back wins to start his Bellator MMA career, Ortiz (18-11-1 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) was offered a matchup against longtime rival Frank Shamrock. He declined and instead insisted Bellator MMA President Scott Coker grant him a light heavyweight championship fight with McGeary (10-0 MMA, 7-0 BMMA) at Bellator 142. McGeary said he was happy to take the fight against the 40-year-old Ortiz. However, he said the former UFC champion is going to get a wake-up call about the difference between wanting something and experiencing the reality
