The UFC hasn’t committed to a fight between heavyweight Stipe Miocic and champ Fabricio Werdum , but the top contender hopes to get his title shot in spring or summer. According to Miocic manager Greg Kalikas, the UFC is reviewing Werdum’s “medical results so they can plan accordingly from there,” he wrote in a text message to MMAjunkie. Miocic (14-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) was granted a title shot after ex-champ Cain Velasquez (13-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) withdrew from this month’s UFC Fight Night 82 due to a back injury. But then Werdum (20-5-1 MMA, 8-2 UFC) suffered a back injury himself – after first suffering a toe injury – and withdrew from the Feb. 6 event, which was later downgraded from pay-per-view to FOX Sports 1 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. Werdum was criticized by some observers, including Kalikas, for saying he would have fought Velasquez despite his injuries
