In the main event, Jared Cannonier (15-6 MMA, 8-6 UFC) struggled to find any meaningful offense against Israel Adesanya (23-1 MMA, 12-1 UFC), lost a unanimous decision and was unable to fulfill his goal of claiming the middleweight championship. The co-headliner, meanwhile, saw Max Holloway (23-7 MMA, 19-7 UFC) fall to 0-3 in his rivalry with featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski (25-1 MMA, 12-0 UFC) with a bloody unanimous decision defeat.
