If he can do that, “Pitbull” said he’ll become the organization’s new lightweight champion. Freire (16-7 MMA, 9-6 BMMA) fought Chandler (14-3 MMA, 11-3 BMMA) once already and lost a unanimous decision to “Iron” at Bellator 44 in May 2011. With more than five years to study and reflect on his errors, Freire said he’s targeted his past mistakes and made the corrections needed for the rematch.
