Yan (14-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) demolished Urijah Faber via knockout at the UFC’s final pay-per-view event of 2019, UFC 245, as he delivered a definitive statement to the UFC’s top brass that he should be the next man up to challenge for the 135-pound title. But while Yan’s performance in Las Vegas on Dec. 15 appeared to make a compelling case for the next shot, Cejudo (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) instead turned his attention to a bantamweight who walked away from the T-Mobile Arena that night with a loss.
