Those factors may have played into why it took so long for him to get his shot at the UFC lightweight title. But his time has come and dos Anjos (23-7 MMA, 12-5 UFC) will step into the cage with the opportunity to wrest the title from the grasp of Anthony Pettis (18-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) in the main event of Saturday’s UFC 185, which takes place at Dallas’ American Airlines Center. All it took for dos Anjos’ opportunity to come was an 8-1 record since 2012 and wins over the likes of Donald Cerrone, Benson Henderson and Nate Diaz. Long path to the role of title challenger or not, dos Anjos believes that now that he has his opportunity, he won’t let it go to waste. “Yeah, the way that I feel is that ‘a matter of time,’ you know?” dos Anjos told MMAjunkie.
