Rani Yahya fought with a heavy heart at UFC on FOX 28, taking the cage just 10 days after the death of his mother. After submitting Russell Doane with a third-round arm-triangle choke , Yahya delivered a touching tribute to his mother in his post-fight interview at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. “Mom, wherever you are, I love you,” Yayha said in Portuguese at the start of his interview. “You were the best mom in the world. Thank you for everything.” Yayha (25-9 MMA, 10-3 UFC) would go on to dedicate the fight to his mother, who he said was “the biggest fan I had.” Via Twitter : This win was for mom Congrats, @RaniYahyaMMA #UFCOrlando pic.twitter.com/vHlPFSadUJ — UFC (@ufc) February 24, 2018 According to Yahya, he was completing his training camp for this fight at American Top Team in South Florida when he received news of his mother’s death.
