SAN JOSE, Calif. — Ryan Bader was understandably frustrated when Bellator 226 main event heavyweight title defense against Cheick Kongo, a bout which he was winning handily, ended with a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke. Partially, this is because he’s not convinced the blow, which ended the fight at SAP Center at the 3:25 mark of the opening round, even landed in Kongo’s eye. “I’ll have to go back and really replay it in slow motion,” Bader told reporters, including MMA Junkie, during a scrum following the card. “And I don’t know, if there really was an eye poke there, it sucks, I’m sorry it was not intentional, but looking at the video I’ve seen, there was a poke on the nose, and then he went for his eye.” From there, Bader went ahead and showed the gathered reporters a short clip on his phone
