Ryan Spann got out of his own way on Saturday evening, but the focus still remains on the mental game. In the co-main event of UFC on ESPN 36 against Ion Cutelaba, Spann (20-7 MMA, 6-2 UFC) was able to overcome adversity on the ground to get up and slap on a lighting-quick guillotine choke. Cutelaba (16-7-1 MMA, 5-6-1 UFC) was trapped in the submission and had no choice but to tap quickly, ending the fight in the first round. It was the fourth-straight outing for Spann in which his fight ended in the opening frame, but unlike his last bout, he got his hand raised. Walking away from this bout with virtually no damage and an upcoming card rumored to take place close to where he trains in Dallas, it seems Spann would be poised for a quick turnaround. However, at the moment, the Fortis MMA product isn’t thinking that far ahead
