ABU DHABI – After his loss to Anthony Pettis in March, Stephen Thompson wanted to take some time off to recuperate. Six months later, “Wonderboy” is finally ready to return and has set his sights on an ideal opponent and location for his next fight. If Thompson (14-4-1 MMA, 9-4-1 UFC) gets his way, he’ll face Rafael dos Anjos (29-12 MMA, 18-10 UFC) at UFC 244 in November. “I wanted to take the summer off after that last fight with Anthony Pettis,” Thompson told MMA Junkie on Thursday. “Taking that shot was like, ‘Man, I want to make sure I’m healed up before I step back out there.’ Especially mentally, for my brain, and making sure that’s healed up before I step back out.
