The MMA community burst into jubilation on Tuesday when UFC President Dana White appeared on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” to announce a highly anticipated middleweight bout between former UFC champion  Anderson Silva (33-6 MMA, 16-2 UFC) and former Strikeforce welterweight champion  Nick Diaz (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC). Both sides expressed interest in the matchup in recent months, and finally a deal was stuck as Silva and Diaz agreed to meet at UFC 183 on Jan. 31. The event will air on pay-per-view from Las Vegas. Even though both men have lost two straight fights, the excitement for “The Spider” to return from his gruesome leg injury against a polarizing figure like Diaz is palatable. The fight is still six months away, but that didn’t prevent MMA fighters, celebrities and media members from sharing thoughts on the freshly announced 185-pound contest
