Following a 15-month layoff due to injury,  Anthony Pettis (18-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) reminded the world why he’s UFC lightweight champion with a second-round submission of  Gilbert Melendez (22-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC). The 155-pound title bout served as the UFC 181 co-main event at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events. “Showtime” predicted a first-round finish prior to the event, and while he was unable to get the job done that quickly, he still finished the former Strikeforce titleholder inside two frames.
