Jon Jones is once again a UFC champion. “Bones” made a triumphant return to competition on Saturday at UFC 197, beating Ovince Saint Preux in the main event to capture the interim light heavyweight belt . Jones (22-1 MMA, 16-1 UFC) was on the sidelines for more than a year dealing with a bevy of issues outside the octagon. He said he would be a force in his comeback, and that’s exactly what happened when he defeated Saint Preux (19-8 MMA, 7-3 UFC) by unanimous decision at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The bout aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. The quest for Jones to return to the top of the sport took a positive turn against “OSP,” but his journey will not be complete until he faces 205-pound titleholder Daniel Cormier in a unification bout later this year.
