The UFC 173 main event from Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center saw a new champion overtake the thrown in the UFC’s bantamweight division as T.J. Dillashaw (10-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) upset Renan Barao (32-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) by decision in a stunning effort. Barao had looked essentially untouchable over the past 10 years of MMA competition going into the fight, but Dillashaw was the man to bring the Brazilian’s 33-fight undefeated streak to an end and in the process captured a world championship.
