RIO DE JANEIRO – Beneil Dariush completely shut down the fast-twitch attack of Diego Ferreira , dominating every facet of their fight en route to a unanimous decision. The final scores were unanimously 30-27 for Dariush (9-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC), who was a betting underdog heading into the fight and picked to lose to Ferreira (11-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) by MMAjunkie staffers. The lightweight bout opened up the main card of today’s UFC 179 event at Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Dariush picked up his second straight win following his first professional loss, a first-round TKO against Ramsey Nijem in 2014.
