Now with two losses in his past three fights, the 30-year-old Elkins hopes to accomplish his goals before time runs out. Elkins, a veteran of 10 UFC bouts, hasn’t fought since January. The featherweight division has evolved a lot since then, with new contenders frequently appearing on the radar. Elkins was one of those newcomers once upon a time, but now he’s trying to hold his position in the division against a streaking youngster. UFC 179 will see Elkins (17-4 MMA, 7-3 UFC) take on 25-year-old Lucas Martins (15-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC).
