Thiago Alves It’s been a rough few years for Thiago Alves . Once the man standing opposite the cage from UFC legend Georges St-Pierre in the co-main event of UFC 100, Alves (20-9 MMA, 12-6 UFC) has been lost in the 185-pound shuffle. This is due, in large part, to a litany of injuries. Following his March 2012 loss to Martin Kampmann, Alves suffered a string of physical setbacks that kept him out of the octagon until April of last year, when he earned an exciting decision win over Seth Baczynski. After yet another injury postponed a planned bout with Jordan Mein last summer, the two men are now set to meet on the main card of Saturday’s UFC 183 event at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.
