LOS ANGELES –  Holly Holm was able to pick up a victory in her first trip to the UFC octagon, scoring a split-decision victory over Raquel Pennington . Holm (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) appeared as though she may have been battling some nerves during the early stages of the bout, looking tight and not quite as quick with her punches as has been seen in the past. Her talent was enough to keep her a step ahead of Pennington (5-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) throughout the fight, but some of the talk of her being an immediate challenge to Ronda Rousey’s bantamweight crown will likely slow after the performance. The women’s bantamweight bout was the co-main event of today’s UFC 184 event at Staples Center in Los Angeles. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
