Joanna Jedrzejczyk DALLAS –  Joanna Jedrzejczyk might have been one of the only people in the building who believed that she had what it took to dethrone UFC women’s strawweight champion Carla Esparza . Maybe that’s because she knew something most didn’t, and it started with her stellar takedown defense. After shutting down nearly every attempt by Esparza (10-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) to get the fight to the floor, Jedrzejczyk (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) unloaded on the champ with sharp jabs and stinging right hands, hammering away until referee Don Turnage was eventually forced to call a stop to the bout at 4:17 of Round 2, making Jedrzejczyk the new UFC women’s 115-pound champ. The strawweight title bout was the co-main event of today’s UFC 185 event at American Airlines Center in Dallas. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and UFC Fight Pass
