John Dodson and Zack Makovsky each entered their UFC 187 preliminary headlining bout in Las Vegas on Saturday night looking to earn a shot at flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson . Dodson entered the fight on a two-fight streak, having last lost to Johnson in 2013. His only issue was that it had been nearly a year since he last fought, having been sidelined with a torn left anterior cruciate ligament. Makovsky’s lone loss in the Octagon was to highly ranked John Moraga late last year. Aside from that unanimous decision loss, he was 5-1 in his last six fights. Unfortunately, neither scored the splashy finish that might make him a shoe-in for a title shot in his next outing
