LAS VEGAS – Against Nate Diaz , fighting up two weight classes, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor found out that pounds very much matter in MMA. Capping off a pair of upsets, Diaz (19-10 MMA, 14-8 UFC) weathered McGregor’s (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) storm to submit the Irish champion with a rear-naked choke in the second round. The welterweight bout was the co-main event of today’s UFC 196 event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
